The Mezzo-soprano Dorothee Schlemm was born in Hannover and began her musical education with Mrs. Prof.Eva Märtson-Wilson.

She then took up studies at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Rostock with Prof. Klaus Häger and Carola Höhn.              Dorothee Schlemm further intensified her studies by taking part in numerous master classes with: KS Peter Schreier, Kleesy Kelly, Gilah Yaron and participated as passive member in master classes with Montserrat Caballé, Gundula Janowitz, Brigitte Fassbaender and Roman Trekel.  She has also worked under the intense musical supervision of the American soprano Janet Williams-Berndt in Berlin and also enjoyed a musicial supervising with Axel Heil "ensemble artists".

While studying she sang many concerts and recitals, one of which was with Christian Hammer and  the North German Philharmonic Orchestra, with a focus on Mozart s concert arias.

In the season 2006 - 2008 she was a member of the Graz Opera Chorus.  She also worked there as a soloist playing the roles of a bridesmaid in DER FREISCHÜTZ by C.M. von Weber and as 2. Girl in WEST SIDE STORY by L. Bernstein.       

In 2009 she made her debut at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Germany, in the production of DER FREISCHÜTZ by C.M. von Weber as one of the bridesmaids, under the conductor Thomas Hengelbrock and director Robert Wilson. Also in 2009 she gave her Debut in the role of Dorabella in COSI FAN TUTTE by WA Mozart, conducted by Christoph Hagel and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.

In the season 2009/10/11 she worked as a guest soloist at the State Theatre Cottbus, was 2010-2012 ensemble member of the Theater für Niedersachsen Hildesheim and in 2012/13 ensemble member at the Landestheater Neustrelitz, where she will return in 2014 as guest in the role of Tisbe from Rossinis Cenerentola.

  • 2012 semi-finalist in the International “Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition”
